Sun and blue sky

Almost as if by chance he went over to the desk
sat down
and let his thoughts still and quieten

He looked out the windows to the sun and the blue sky.
The day had been eventful, everything had changed.
He wasn't in the same mood anymore,
he was focused in a way only events like these caused.

He was tired of it all,
someone had better come get him and take him away.
The order was sent in his mind, he knew no one would come.

Almost without realising it he stood up
walked over to the water dispenser and drank a cup
He paused again contemplating

Feeling the weight on him
he turned inwards to find the rock
The one he could always depend on
It never faltered

It isolated him from everything
made him feel better
or at least that was what he thought it did
it was a strange feeling of comfort

Funny how that is, he thought.
He realised what he wanted to do
He moved through the room with purpose
over to the door and opened it.

He felt like he was floating on air
walking on soft cotton, supporting his steps.
Through the corridor he followed it to the right
his body soothed and tingled at the same time

It was long since he felt this good and bad at the same time
But it was also a releasing feeling
this had been a long time coming
Turning with the corridor he entered the landscape
At the end of it he knocked on a door

Entering he found a aged man sitting there,
typing, looking up when he entered.
Moving over to the desk he pulled out his card and his keys
He handed them over with certainty
The old man looked puzzled then realisation dawned on him.

"What, John, why"? the aged man stumbled on his words.
"I'm done playing other peoples games." he said with a voice
that had been waiting a long time.
"There are things that are ok and things that are not. I've come to the end, this is where I get off."

He left without another word, he needed nothing from this place.
Out of the building, he drove his car and picked up early.
At the beach he watched her run happily round and round
Through the sand and out of the water.

He began to cry and shake, but he felt whole again.
She went over and hugged him gently with small but strong arms.
"We'll be ok now" he said hugging her close.
He released the rock and smiled at her.
"Lets get some ice cream, why don't we."
"Yay!" she cheered.
