Bre and Tad

Too far and too wide the gap seemed impossible to overcome.
They had flown through darkness for months and landed just a couple of days ago.
Now they stood with the vehicle and gear in front of a gaping chasm of grand proportions.
Scratching his helmet Tad tried to think of a solution like he always did.

Bre found the situation immensely funny and started laughing. She almost fell over, partly because she stopped looking where she put her feet, but also partly because she had the clumsy suit on and hadn't adjusted completely to the gravity of the new environment.
Tad caught her and pointed out that he preferred she concentrate on the task at hand.

"Aye Capn'!'" she said suddenly at attention, with a sly smile and flashing eyes.
He smiled back at her with a grin.
"You always were the one to have fun when you shouldn't."

He looked across the chasm with doubt, but suddenly saw that the wind was picking up.
Dust started to dim the view and beat against their protected bodies.

She tried to determine the direction of the wind
only to see the flowers growing about a stones throw away.
Blue, green, yellow and purple in flourishing beauty.
They waved at her and invited her to come over with promises of luxurious warmth and exuberation.
It was intoxicating and alluring, but something told her something was a miss.

Looking closely she noticed the flowers slowly changing colours and size back and forth.
Shaking her head fervently, she tried to get the image out of her head.
"What was going on" she thought with confusion.

She looked over at Tad, but where he had just been, he was not.
Scanning around she barely noticed him far off in the distance,
almost completely blurred by the dust in the wind which was picking up even more.

"Tad!" she said with alarm over the communication channel.
No response.

She started imitating some form of running towards him, the suit was not adapted for sprinting.
"TAD!" she now yelled breathless.

She heard a hum, a sigh and a song so sublime.
Tad let his lung fill the chorus with power.
He was so happy in his delirium, free amongst his friends from back home.
Having a picnic on meadows so fine. Barbecued ribs and drinks abundant.

When at last she found him, she smacked him up the helmet.
"Wake up now promptly, stupid fool.
You're acting not normal, just like a tool.
Come now lets get back and take another road, this place seems scary and dangerous somehow."

He noticed afar that some girl was upset.
Why? This was fun and the table was set.

In a daze he gained his senses and looked at her clear.
Confused and amazed, he realised what to fear.

They rushed back to the chasm and found the buggy gone.
How could this happen, how would they get out of this con?

They gathered their thoughts and debated a while.
Then Bre said "I bet its still here, in our mind it is not."

She rushed over to where the thing used to be, smashed head first into nothing to see.
Bee bee bee, bumble a bee.
Sometimes the head will find love in a tree.

Dazed even suited she rose happily. "Our Rover is here, funny that come with me."
Tad jumped straight in, she need not ask twice.

They raced back to base camp puzzled and lost,
mysterious evil and windstorm with dust.

Back home they entered and reported it all.
They did not hear back when they sent their call.

Sadly they realised something was here,
they seemed to have come totally unprepared.

The ground shook and something swallowed them whole,
Tad and Bre pressed the button and were free.

Exiting the simulator they hugged naturally,
smiled at each other and kissed just the same.

"I love you my husbee, thanks for the ride,
let's eat something quick I got hunger for fried."

Tad just sighed, he was happy and proud.
She was the one who always put him on a cloud.
