Warrior's revenge

Warrior's revenge

Grey he was, but not more.
Great he was, but not less.
Sword by hand and shield on back.
Leaped off the mountain with a cry.

Bleed for honor, bleed for fate.
Fought for them that had just passed.
Fury and rage, blinded by hate.
One upon one, they fell and flew.
Blood over stone, building and green.
Confused no one was left when woken from the blur.

Walking and staggering round and round.
Looking straight ahead at nothing and all.
Then falling on his knees leaning on his red blade.
Feelings were numb, everything black.
Unable to move he sat there til night.
Went down at last when wind moved him over.

He cared not and lay still were he fell.
Darkness upon him he steadied his mind,
he knew he had nothing to gain from the storm.

Slept until sun shone on his face.
Looking about sadly he took a slow step, then another
 and then again.
He didn't want to, his whole being told him not to,
but he knew it was the only thing he could do.

A step became a mile and the mile became a year.
He still looked straight ahead, blinded by the past.
The world was not there anymore.
The stars shone not,
the trees grew not,
the people were not
and he felt not.
